The history of Fair Oaks Cemetery

Fair Oaks Cemetery was established in the early 1800’s by the Means family as a private cemetery. In the 1860’s the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church took over the cemetery. Some time around the year 1874 the Wilmington Cemetery Association took over the cemetery and remains its custodian to this day.

Fair Oaks Cemetery consists of 13 sections; A, B, C, G, E, K, L, M, N, H, O, W, and J. The grounds offer beautiful landscapes, a spring-fed stream, two ponds, and mature trees throughout. On the East end of the cemetery you will find a quite Amish farm with a field full of entertaining farm animals. On the West, you can catch the perfect sunset over Little Neshannock Stables and Westminster College. The back of the Cemetery is bordered by forest and farm field.

Many of the graves within Fair Oaks are documented on the Find A Grave website which is free to use. If you’re considering purchasing a cemetery plot, please reach out by phone to schedule an appointment.
